IN THE FIELD

Although it's great to share the photos that I take of wildlife and landscapes, it's just as important to show some of the "behind the scenes" images make these adventures memorable and fun.  The following collection of photos are a mix of images from some of my travels.  As you will see, we are NOT your typical "touristy" travelers.  I never believed in doing what everyone else does... that's boring.  I'm not saying that going to a resort and laying around a pool or the beach isn't nice, but there's so much more to do when traveling the world.  One needs to challenge themselves and get off the beaten path to learn more about the people, their culture, and seeing things that many others don't even know exist. This is what adventure travel is all about... it's an opportunity to enrich your life.  And I am thrilled that I can share some of these experiences through the lens of my camera.

LIFESTYLE - 2024-0410 - Milka and Mommy in Shenandoah National Park, VA.jpeg

Shenandoah National Park

It's always great to include family on some adventures... even if it's your "furry" family. Milka, our great dane, has gone on a few adventures with us.  She is pictured here with Alley.  The photo on the left was taken at Lake Reynolds in Georgia.  It was a beautiful, cool morning on the lake.  A light fog hovered over the water adding some nice composition to this image.  Shooting into the rising sun created a touching silhouette of Milka and Alley.

The photo on the left was taken at Shenandoah National Park in Virginia.  Milka was a puppy at this time, and I thought it would be a challenge getting her to stand on the stump for the photo... she was a gem and posed willingly.  The backdrop of the mountains added to this image, making this another great photo of mommy and our pup.

IOWA - Albert the Bull (Audubon-4), Selfie.jpeg

Albert The Bull

Left... I have spent countless hours in The Everglades photographing some of Florida's natural beauty.  Although in this photo I am trekking on a boardwalk above the water, I have been known to jump in knee deep (or deeper) to get a shot of something spectacular.  The Everglades is one of the most diverse ecosystems in the world and home to countless species of animals and plants alike.  It is home to the endangered Florida Panther, which is the ONLY species of cougar in the Eastern U.S. Its population is hovering around 200 in the wild, which makes it a critically endangered species.  I have yet to see one in the wild... and hopefully one day I will be so blessed.

Right... Alley and I always manage to find some fun times during our travels.  Here, we took a selfie with Albert The Bull.  Albert is the "World's Largest Bull", and he has been guarding the streets of Audubon, Iowa since 1964.  He stands 28-feet tall, but is a "gentle giant" by his own right.

Eladio

Left... This was a photo of changing of the guards at the Royal Palace in Budapest, Hungary.

Right... During our trip to Argentina where we stayed on a ranch in Patagonia, we spent 3 days riding horseback through the valley and the mountains.  Pictured here is one of the gauchos that traveled with us during this expedition.  We had stopped to rest ourselves and our horses, and Eladio sat on tree stump taking in the sights.  It was a moment of peace that I felt needed to be preserved.

Cannon Girl

Left... Photography is spontaneous.  Alley decided to hop in this bathtub display in Andorra, so I immediately took the pic.  It's cute... but it tells a story.

Right... Alley loves her cannons.  Every time she sees a cannon, I shoot a photo of her posing with it.  This one was taken in Valley Forge National Historical Park in Pennsylvania.

Never Not Working

Left... Selfie at Mesquite Sand Dunes in Death Valley National Park.

Right... It's become a running joke, as well as our mantra.  Alley can be found in any area of the world "Never Not Working", like here in Shenandoah National Park, Virginia.

Hamming It Up With Donkey

Left... From the balcony of our cruise ship in Alaska, my camera has the "Call of Duty" to get some closer shots of the waterfalls that are flowing in the fjords.

Right... Alley is making friends with a donkey at the horse stables in The Dominican Republic.
